About

We believe in the architecture of the everyday - that thoughtful design can make ordinary buildings quietly special.

Based in Edinburgh and Dumfries, we are a small practice with a collaborative, client-focused way of working.

We work across sectors, with expertise in residential, listed buildings and football projects. Every project is grounded in the same careful, consistent approach.

Our Values

Simplicity

Our architecture is clear and elegant. Natural light, logical layouts, and connections to the outside help create spaces that feel calm, useful, and enjoyable to inhabit.

Practicality

We design with construction in mind, using familiar techniques, natural materials, and thoughtful detailing. Our aim is to produce buildings that are efficient to build yet quietly distinctive, providing lasting quality and good value for our clients.

Context

By taking time to understand the setting of each project, we create architecture that feels grounded, appropriate, and responsive. We often try to draw out the qualities of an existing situation to create spaces and buildings with character, that are rooted in their location.

Sustainability

We recognise that as designers we have a responsibility to make a difference. We work carefully with existing buildings and choose materials thoughtfully. By extending the life of buildings and improving how they are used, we aim to create resilient places with lasting value.

How We Work

Listening

We start every project by asking questions to make sure we’re clear on what matters most to our clients. This helps us think creatively and make confident, purposeful decisions as the project develops.

Communication

Our role is to guide and advise you throughout your project, helping to make the construction process straightforward and transparent. We use visual tools, including renders and digital collages, to communicate our ideas clearly to our clients.

Collaboration

We work closely with structural engineers and other consultants to develop well-considered, coordinated proposals. At construction stage, we continue this collaborative approach, prioritising positive and pragmatic relationships with contractors, ensuring on-site issues are resolved promptly and our design intent is carried through on site.

The Team

The studio operates as a small, focused team, working together to develop ideas and deliver succesful projects. Since opening the office in 2023, I’ve been supported by a number of talented assistants who have brought fresh energy and a wide range of skills to the practice.

Previous team members: Sofi Håkansson, Luke Foley, Jonathan Gray, Emily Grills. We are not currently recruiting.
