Designing for Scottish Football

Combining passion with expertise

Scottish football is evolving. The pyramid system is providing more opportunities for ambitious clubs to progress and modern facilities are becoming essential for every team. Your ground plays a central role in meeting SFA or UEFA licensing requirements, growing your fanbase and developing the next generation of players.  Whether you require planning for a new artificial surface, a design for a new changing pavilion or guidance on upgrading supporters’ facilities we specialise in architecture for Scottish football clubs.

We have worked extensively with Premiership club Heart of Midlothian at Tynecastle Park and at junior level with Johnstone Burgh on a vision for their community football ground.

Neil’s experience with Hearts goes back to his time with a previous employer, when he was the project architect for the second phase of the main stand redevelopment, one of the most significant stadium projects in Scottish football in recent years. He worked closely with the club and designed most of the internal spaces within the stand including the changing rooms, club shop and hospitality spaces. Since starting the practice, he has continued that relationship, working with Hearts on a variety of stadium improvements around Tynecastle as well as the ‘Maroon Mile’ heritage project in the Gorgie and Dalry area.

Services for Football Clubs

Whether it is a new artificial surface, a new changing pavilion or a full site redevelopment, our services cover the full journey from early ideas through to construction and are tailored to suit each individual football club.

Projects often begin with a feasibility study to clarify what is achievable, establish realistic budgets and set a clear design direction. From there, we guide projects through planning and building warrant approval, develop robust technical information for construction, and support the appointment of suitable contractors.

The financial landscape of Scottish football can be challenging, and we can design projects to be phased in line with budgets as well as support grant funding applications. We work with clubs to identify realistic routes for improving their facilities, balancing ambition with deliverability and long-term value.
