Designing for Scottish Football
Architectural Services for Football Clubs, Community Facilities and Stadiums
Scottish football is evolving. Modern facilities are becoming essential for every team and the pyramid system is providing more opportunities for ambitious clubs to progress. We specialise in helping Scottish football clubs upgrade their facilities to meet licensing requirements, improve their match day experience and support player development. We have worked extensively with Premiership club Heart of Midlothian at Tynecastle Park and at junior level with Johnstone Burgh on a vision for their community football ground.
Neil's experience with Hearts began while working for a previous employer, where he was project architect for the Main Stand redevelopment at Tynecastle Park, one of the most significant stadium projects in Scottish football in recent years. He worked closely with the club and was responsible for much of the internal design, including the changing rooms, club shop and hospitality spaces. Since establishing the practice, he has continued that relationship, delivering a range of stadium improvements at Tynecastle as well as supporting the ‘Maroon Mile’ heritage project in the Gorgie and Dalry area of Edinburgh.
Services for Football Clubs
Whether it is a new artificial surface or floodlights for a community pitch, a new stand or refurbished changing pavilion for a growing club, or a full site redevelopment, our services cover the full journey from early ideas through to construction and are tailored to suit the needs of each individual football clubProjects often begin with a feasibility study to clarify what is achievable, establish realistic budgets and set a clear design direction. From there, we guide projects through planning and building warrant approval, develop robust technical information for construction, and support the appointment of suitable contractors.
The financial landscape of Scottish football can be challenging, and we can design projects to be phased in line with budgets as well as support grant funding applications. We work with clubs to identify realistic routes for improving their facilities, balancing ambition with deliverability and long-term value.
