Elevating Porty Prom

This proposal for Portobello Promenade was shortlisted in an ideas competition and offered an opportunity to explore how architecture can support public life at the edge of the city.

The scheme is conceived as a building that engages directly with the public realm, making full use of its seafront setting while strengthening the beachfront community. An elevated walkway allows people to move along the promenade at a higher level, pausing to look out to sea, while a series of small rentable units supports community groups and local businesses along the promenade.
